๐Ÿ’ ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐ ๐จ today, a woman was murdered.
๐Ÿ’ ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐ ๐จ today, a human being was brutally assassinated.
๐Ÿ’ ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐ ๐จ today, a mother, daughter, sister, and wife died.
๐Ÿ’ ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐ ๐จ today, the career of an investigative journalist was cut short.
๐Ÿ’ ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐ ๐จ today, Malta, as well as its political and institutional landscape, was forever changed.

The assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia, and its aftermath, not only highlighted the importance of having a free press in a democratic society but shun light on how journalists must be protected and safeguarded whilst carrying out their duty. A duty to report on matters in the public interest, to hold those in power accountable for their actions and their words, and to report on factual data and information, and nothing else. Such duties were, are, and will always remain important in guaranteeing that Malta’s democracy functions efficiently, and in ensuring that truth and justice prevails, so as the events of four years ago never take place again.
