Hone your voice. Build coalitions. Negotiate change. Youth Congress is a 9‑week public speaking and diplomacy competition where teams represent countries negotiating a Global Climate‑Action Pact, or journalists reporting on it. No prior experience needed, just curiosity and commitment.

  • What: 9‑week public speaking, debate & negotiation competition on the climate emergency
  • When: October–December 2025 (see calendar below)
  • Teams: Delegations of 2–3 students (country assignments provided)
  • Tracks: Delegates (country teams) or Press Corps (student journalists)
  • Prizes: Up to €1,000 for winning teams, plus awards for best delegates and journalists
  • Support: Mentors, workshops, dossiers, handbooks, and a transparent scoring rubric
  • Compatibility: Suitable for SOK/CAS Projects (individual approval still required)

Why join?

Public speaking: Weekly practice with prepared and on-the-spot speeches, Q&As, and impromptu responses.
Debate & diplomacy: Build coalitions, negotiate amendments, and persuade a room.
Research & writing: Draft position papers, clauses, and amendments like real delegates.
Mentor feedback: Mentors guide you throughout; judges use a transparent, calibrated rubric.
Press option: Prefer media? Join the Press Corps to observe committees, interview delegates, and publish real‑time analysis with feedback from your Editor‑in‑Chief.


How it works

Teams & roles
Delegations (2–3 students): You’ll represent an assigned country across all issues.
Press Corps: Join a newsroom with its own editorial stance; cover proceedings, run interviews, and publish.
Mentors: Assigned to guide delegates, provide targeted feedback, and answer questions.
Judges: Evaluate content, delivery, debate/impromptu skills, teamwork, and diplomacy.
Chairs / Committee Presidents: Oversee proceedings and collaborate with judges on feedback.

Programme flow
1) Launch & training → public speaking and resolution‑writing workshops
2) Committee rounds → negotiate text, build alliances, and draft clauses
3) Plenary debates → present merged drafts, face grilling questions, and vote
4) Feedback forum → mid‑course coaching
5) Final Summit & Awards → celebrate top teams, delegates, and journalists

  • Rules of Procedure Handbook
  • Briefing Dossiers on key topics
  • Summit Delegate Packs (agenda, merged draft resolutions, scoring rubric)
  • Training materials from public‑speaking and resolution‑writing workshops (developed with the National Youth Agency)
